Searching and Obtaining Birth Certificate in Kazakhstan

According to the legislation of Kazakhstan reissuing and obtaining a duplicate (copy) of the Birth Certificate is possible only if there is a Power of Attorney issued personally by the person in respect of whom the birth record was drawn up.
If a document confirming the fact of birth must be received by close relatives (children, grandchildren, etc.), then in this case we can receive a Birth Record Information Note.
The Birth Record Information Note contains all information specified in the Birth Certificate and is issued on the official letterhead of the authorized body.
In order to obtain the Birth Record Information Note, in addition to a notarized Power of Attorney on behalf of a close relative, documents confirming family ties with the person in respect of whom a birth documents is requested will also be required.
What is a Birth Certificate?
A birth certificate is an official document issued by the justice authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan upon the birth of a child in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan or in the territory of the former Kazakh SSR.
What information is on a Birth Certificate?
The birth certificate contains information about the surname, name and patronymic of the child, about his ethnicity, about the surname, name and patronymic of his parents and their ethnicity, as well as the date of birth of the child and the place of his birth. The data that is indicated in the birth certificate is taken from the birth record of the child.
What is a primary Birth Certificate?
A primary birth certificate is a child’s birth certificate issued by the justice authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the first time immediately after the child’s birth.
What is a Re-issued Birth Certificate?
A re-ussued birth certificate is a birth certificate issued by the justice authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in case of loss or deterioration of the primary birth certificate.

According to the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a duplicate birth certificate can be issued only to the person in respect of whom the birth record was made, or to his representative by a notarized power of attorney.
Can the relatives of the person for whom the birth record was made obtain a Re-issued Birth Certificate (Duplicate Birth Certificate)?
No, the relatives of such a person can only receive a Birth Record Informtion Note, which contains all the same information as in the birth certificate, but which is not an identity document. To obtain a Birth Record Information Note, the relatives of the person must provide to the justice authority of Kazakhstan evidence of their relationship with him (copies of their birth certificates, etc.).
